Intake manifold mystery to me.

I'm attaching a picture. Of the back right intake manifold. This v10 is in a 2006 E350. Please enlighten me on the way the runner is sitting on the head. Is this normal? Is it possible to flip the manifold around 180°? I'm new to the V10's

We get a newbie a couple times per year asking about this.

Its you this time

weve all discussed it in the past ; all the V10’s have it and it’s a hole to nowhere.

Correct, it's normal. The heads castings are the same for each side, but at the factory, the oil galleys at the "back" of the head are plugged. If you look at the front of the left side head, that port actually does go somewhere - I think
