newbie - struts and shocks for Navigator L
Hi,
I am new to the forum and have a 2012 Lincoln Navigator L with self leveling and roll stability. I am planning to change struts and shocks for better ride quality. I am planning to stay with OEM. Looked at Motorcraft (OEM) and can't find full assembly just struts and shocks. Should I reuse the springs? What else should I change with struts and shocks.
I like billsteins but can't find them for suv with self leveling suspension. Any other upgrade from OEM?

Do you have the airbag type self leveling system? If so, I think your Navigator has springs in the front and airbags instead of springs in the back.
My 2007 Navigator has roll stability system but does not have a self leveling system.
I installed Bilstein's front and back reusing my springs. I reused all of my bolts and nuts but did clean them very well and put blue locktite on the threads. This has been over 30,000 miles ago. No problems and I like the Bilstein shocks.
However, Ford dealers are supposed to use new bolts and nuts when replacing shocks, Therefore they recommend that you do the same.
Good luck,
Richard

Unless you find any worn parts then you don't need anything else.
If your tires are wearing evenly all is ok. If not you should have the alignment checked.
Note: Those air bags in the back don't need replacing unless they are leaking air. Replacing them anyway will not improve the ride.
The front shocks can wear and the ride and control of the car will deteriorate as they wear. Replacing worn out front shocks will restore ride and handling.
How many miles are there on your car/truck?

Thanks. I will ask my mechanic for an inspections before ordering parts
