Cigar lighter port not working

Cigar lighter port not working
I have a 1994 Ford Ranger and I need a little help with getting my cigar lighter to work. I replaced fuse 12 the one located under the drivers side dash and still doesn't work. I am wondering if there is a fuse under the hood in the power distributor that I am missing. I heard that there is a separate fuse for the cigar lighter but don't know the location. Any help will work.

There is another fuse under the hood that powers fuse 12 in the drivers side dash panel. Underhood fuse 3 protects fuses in the dash panel.
Those dash panel fuses are #4 Hazard flashers, fuse #8 Horn, fuse #16 Premium Cassette and #12 Cigar lighter. If the horn works, the flashers flash, etc. it is probably not the under hood fuse. I think underwood fuse #3 is something like a 60A maxi fuse. Check the rear electrical connection on the cigar lighter to see if it sees 12V. The cigar lighter probably grounds through the housing which could be also a problem if you see 12V at the lighter. Or the cigar lighter might be faulty.

Go here, log in & look up your vehicle electrical pictorials & TSB's at no cost. BBB Industries- Premium Alternators, Starters, Power Steering Products | TSB's & Wiring Diagrams
Maybe the wiring is disconnected, damaged, or the cigar lighter element is open circuit. Use your DMM on the 20vdc scale to check for +12 volts from the lighter center contact to the metal shell. If no voltage go to the fuse for this circuit & check across both fuse contacts. If you have voltage across the fuse but none at the lighter, you have an open circuit in the wiring between the fuse & lighter contact.
Be sure to check the fuse panel fuse contacts for corrosion too. If you have B+ to a good clean unpainted ground contact at the fuse, make sure the cigar socket has a good ground.
Some thoughts for consideration let us know what you find.
