OK heres the situation...

Currently have a 2001 f-150 5.4 7700.
Has been my DD work & play for 9 years. My first Ford.
I like it and its served me well, but its falling apart & has a million miles/issues.

Was thinking about another f-150, with a tall cap, but am having a hard time finding a decent one in my price range (6-7k)
Then I was thinking about a Suburban - I'm looking for something with 4WD (I live in Northern MA) & cargo/camping
Now I'm kind of eyeballing the Excursion
There's a 2000 6.8 V10 for sale near me with low miles (112k)
Looks super clean, loaded, under 6k

Anybody have any experience with this truck?
Pros & cons?
MPG? (I've heard 10-16)

Any advice/suggestions much appreciated!

 

BTW I won't be towing, and this will be my daily driver, but I live in the woods & my work commute is about 5 miles

 

I think that will serve you well. I have a 2000 6.8 with 181k miles and it's been really great. Just make sure you take it on some longer trips here and there. And of course get a good mechanical look over of the vehicle to make sure it's in good condition. But it sounds like a fair price, and I really don't think you can go wrong with it. Expect around 12-13mpg.
