Swapping dana44 for Dana 50.

I put some 4.10s in my rear ended this week, and I just found out that I can put a Dana 50 third member and I happen to know where 2 are at the moment with 4.10 gears. My question is, is the a straight swap or do I have to adapt any thing like axle shafts. I haven’t found much out there other then it being able to bolt up to the beat. Thanks in advance

My truck is a 93 F150 the donor truck is a 85 f250

I was finally able to find a good step by step write up on this and it’s just a straight forward swap very happy to find that out. The write up was on a bronco sight.

I finally got around to doing it. I had the Dana 50 re-built. It was a straight for ward job. Almost enjoyable. I’m going to put the passenger side stub shaft from the f250 in the truck eventually cause it will fit. I checked. It’s got a stronger u-joint, so less likely to fail. I hope.
