Undecided Motor swap 360 to 300

I have recently aquired a 74 highboy with a 360. The 360 is a pig, ive been looking into swapping in a 300. I can get a donor truck with a 300 but its a 72 f100. Would this be pretty straight forward or should i just build the 360 for mileage. Looking for a solid 10mpg. What do yall think?

I think most people would advise you to rebuild the 360 into a 390.

I think the 300 is not to hard of a conversion but will need significant upgrades to not be a “pig”

I have owned two 360`s. Current one in a F100 short bed 2wd. I get 13-14 combined city- hiway. My first was in a new F250 crew cab 4x4. It was a 10 mpg machine at the 7000 to 9000 ft elevations where I ran it. I would think a healthy 360 with a quality tune and well tuned carb should return 10 mpg - especially if you live at a considerably lower elevation. Gotta go- my "pig" awaits me.
