Slight rub with 285/75R16s

I changed out my stock 235/85R16s for new 285/75R16s, after doing quite a bit of research that indicated I shouldn't have rubbing issues.

Well, I mostly don't. I have an occasional rub but only when turning left, and -- strangely -- not at full lock, but rather at about midway between straight and full lock. Doesn't seem to happen at all when turning right.

Can you guys give me some suggestions for how to resolve? Do I need to shim the bumper (and how?) or is it likely something simpler like just trimming or adjusting the inner fender?

My bumper is shimmed (washers) out a bit and I have plenty of room. Good part is you can not tell unless you really inspect close. Are you hitting the fender or bumper? Can not get much simpler than shimming the bumper. imo

Dunno where exactly it's rubbing, it was dark last night after I got the tires put on. But I'll report back.

What all is involved with shimming the bumper?

Just put washers between bumper and frame.Loosen both sides then add washers one side at at a time. If I remember correct. Last time I was under mine for that was to remove some washers to go from 16.5 to 16 in tires. Been a while but easy.

Granted mines 2wd so yours might not need as much, I spaced the bumper 2" with 2x2 square steel tubing, and still had to cut out the bottom corner on the bumpers, i run 285 75 16 with no rub, and have some ricer 20" wheels with 305 55 20 tires and dont rub at all, I love the width of these wheels, it has better traction and when pulling the goose neck camping trailer its stable as a mule.

I looked at it, and the only part that is rubbing is the passenger side, lower corner of the bumper, only about half an inch. I may just use an angle grinder on it since it's such a small chunk.

Of course, it'll be interesting to see what happens once I get this thing offroad.

Thanks for the tips, guys. And knottyrope, that is a sweet looking ride.

Used an angle grinder to remove a very small bit of material from the right corner of the back of my front bumper, and the rubbing issues are gone -- even after some decent four-wheeling action this weekend. I basically just gave it a smoother curve from the bottom to about two inches up.

Are you talking about the bumper, or the tires/wheels? I didn't actually take any pictures of the bumper, but I could take some "after" pictures if you want.
