Cargo Slide vs Bed Slide.....those that tow trailers...do you use them?

Looking at these for 2003 F350 short bed.

Interested to know if any of you have added a slide to their truck to assist with accessing heavy camping cargo as well as for uses around the home.

I tow a TT and want to add secure, easily accessible storage for my trips.

Put a Pro Tops level shell on my truck and now want to add one of these for ease of accessing my generators, ice chests, inflatable raft, fishing gear, firewood, etc.

About $1100 shipped.

They are similar but do have some differences....6 bearings (CG) vs 4 (BS); plywood deck (CG) vs some sort of composite foam (BS); metal ring hooks (CG) vs plastic (BS)

Was hoping someone here owns one of them and can share there experiences.

Also, if you decided on one over the other what were the reasons.

Thanks!

This is a cool idea, but how much weight can you have on them when fully extended? Also, I assume you can't extend the cargo slide when you are hooked up?

Models vary from 1000# to 2200#.

Also extensions range from 70-100%

Correct, I'd be unable to slide out while connected. ( my shank is tall and tailgate would hit). For some truck/trailer combos it may be possible

I use a BedSlide 1500. Can't imagine not having it. I also "invented "SideSlides" and hopefully, never have to get in the back of the truck again. I can't open the tailgate when hitched so never considered using the slide until I unhitch. Slide holds 1500# and extends far enough that I can reach anything with feet on the ground.

I had a bed slide in my F150 work truck for over a decade. Steel, plywood platform, 100% extension, stops about every 10". Having stops is an essential if you intend to load it heavy and park on a slant lower in the rear. Saves you from getting crushed. The bed slide itself weighed about 600 pounds. Now that I no longer have the truck it sits under a tarp in my yard. Maybe again some day, who knows. I had a small air compressor and a generator on mine along with hundreds of pounds of tools. Would never work out of or use a truck daily with a bed cover again without a bed slide. Loved it! The heft, even in three parts, made installing it and changing it between three different trucks over time a chore, but the actual mounting was a no-brainer.
