One More Time!! The piece in you hand is the 7d261 with the S part inside the pan broke off the shaft!! If you take the piece in your hand and pull the nut off the arm, which is different than in the diagram, ( Number Dummy said this pic was from a CAR catalog. The lever 7a115 in diagram will NOT look like yours.)After you take nut and lever off of the one in your hand you will have only the shaft of 7D261 with the S lever broke off. The S lever is binding on the 7A115 which is the lever that shifts truck into gear and also park. The 7A115 is hooked to the 7A256 shaft that is on outside of transmission where the shift rod comes down from the steering column. You have to pull pan and pull the s lever out and truck should shift ok. But will still leak unless you repair the shaft7d261.

Thank you. That makes so much more sense. So I need a replacement for the s part inside? Can it go without?

Short answer YES, but you have to seal the hole in 7A256 where it will not leak. gonna be hard to do. But you have to get the S piece out of the inside of the transmission to get linkage freed up???? Possibly???

I have my mechanic working on this tomorrow. So if we wanted we could just place a bolt and nut with O-ring to seal the hole and go without the s part?.

Yes as long as the linkages inside the tranny are not messed up (bent) etc.

Should do just fine, be sure to put a new oring/seal in or it will leak and you'll have to pull pan again.
