2003 to 2000 swap intake manifold

OK, I need to replace my 2003 Ranger 3.0. I have a low mileage 2000 Ranger 3.0. Of course, I'm rapidly becoming familiar with all the subtle changes year to year.

So, I will be using the electrical harness from the 2003. First problem is the fuel injectors. Bosch EV14's on the 2003 and EV5's on the 2000. Different connectors of course. I can easily change connectors, but is there any other reason to retain the EV14's?

It would appear that the 2000 engine uses EGR where the 2003 does not. I can replace, or plug the exhaust manifold, but I would rather not change the 2000 intake manifold. I'm planning to either soft plug, or block off plate the manifold portion and I can accomodate the different throttle cable lengths. Changing only the upper manifold is not possible because of the different bolt size and pattern. I am somewhat torn between using the 2000 or the 2003 throttle body. Any unseen factors here?

I also noticed the coolant lines running from the heater hoses to the upper intake on the 2000 manifold. I can keep or delete. Any pros or cons?

Looks like I found the answer to the EGR and coolant questions right here.

I'll be keeping the plastic 2003 intake around just in case future inspections may require these pieces. Currently, no smog equipment inspections here. This vehicle remains controlled by the 2003 EEC. All I'm trying to do is make the 2000 engine as close to the 2003 as possible.

Still looking for info on EV5 vs. EV14 injectors. Supposedly, they are physically interchangeable? Connectors are certainly different.
