More mystery info

The seat tag is deciphered so far as
1957
88 refers to type
8161014 is unknown so far- maybe type of bench seat or type of cover
BAAA refers to cab trim info this tag is attached to the back of the seat

im hoping someone can at least point me in the direction of which Canadian company cut and stretched the cab. So far I’ve been referred to Orville cab and steel.

The additions on description I made on the body styles were verbatim including punctuation and capitalization from the FMCoC 1961 Parts Manual.
FMCoC did not use Flareside and Styleside Initially at least it seems.
In the parts literature It was Pick up (Flush side) from 57-61 for the Styleside and just Pick up for the Flareside.
The 1957 parts manual 1958 Preliminary parts manual and the 1961 Parts Manual from FMCoC all call the Styleside a Flush side. Not sure when it changed or if it did even.
I don't think we had we had a 9' Styleside box In Canada I belive they were all Flaresides with the 9' Bed (Express Box)
I can not find parts listings for the Styleside Express box in the FMCoC parts manuals either.
Hence maybe the reason the Express box listed as the code 83 Pick up (Flareside) only.

There is a good one, see if any one has a genuine Canadian built Stylesides 9' Express Box if some one has one it has to be super rare beast , have it be a Mercury and I bet there were not a hand full made, if any of either actually were.
I do not ever recall seeing a Styleside Express box that era to be honest.

It may be that anticipated production would have been so low it was seen as not financially viable to tool up the stamping dies. Those dies would have been mega bucks to make, possibly with no hope of ever recovering the cost. Truck production here was less than 10% of what was made in the States so possibly just not enough anticipated volume to justify the investment.. And it was FMCoC too, they did not march to the same drummer as FoMoCo even at the best of times in the era.

Also still to be determined is the 4x4 conversion company. In 1960 only the F100 and F250 were being done in-house. Sounds like no badges have been found, and no tell tale screw holes, so it may not be possible to know unless the components themselves have markings or give hints. Lots of mysteries with this truck. More info

The exterior door lock is located on passenger door only.
i called the Oakville assembly plant, was transferred several times and finally to a nice fellow in archives, after some time he did find reference to the assembly of my truck, however he is going to look deeper into if was an one time in-house crew cab assembly, he did say they did do a few F100 and a few F250 in-house crew cabs, though production numbers are very low, and the crewcab 3- door maybe only a “ very few” he said.
More to come
