BLUEMAX65 is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I'm currently running SDK tunes Had GH originaly. Dan's a great guy VERY easy to work with. Even with all the problems I had initially with my setup he was there to give advice and tweak my tunes.

That's good to know. I wanted low risk with the new sticks so went with PHP (running their tunes for several years) and GH with their lifetime revisions.

Now that I have solid tunes from PHP I have some leeway on experimentation and adjustments/revisions. Lots of tuners to choose from so LOTS of research to do. I measure 14 times and cut once as Sous does so it will not be a short process.

Another successful install this weekend! This motor was bone stock with 100K miles. Installed UVC clips, CNCFAB HPOP lines, fuel lines, did a fuel bowl rebuild etc. Truck runs like a champ with EGTs non existent!

Thanks for the pictures Aaron! Maybe I will just get my parts together and bring the 5th wheel to your driveway so you can install the SXE for me...

Good eye... I was planning to bring a couple of lawn chairs at the least to help out...

Anyway, once the new to us camper modifications slow down a bit, I plan to jump on the T4/SXE bandwagon.

Posts like the one below from Brandon makes my decision easy.

Turbo
Egt no problem. I ran Interstate at 70 and local at 55. Very happy.

Not sure how much his truck and stuff weighed, but lets say it is 10,000 lbs. So, Brandon was towing 14,000 lbs behind him at 70 MPH with 140/30 injectors.

Some perspective on the T4 mount on a 99-03 7.3L:

Jerry Lagod, who has been building and modifying International diesel engines since 1962, likely before most if not all of the owners of the diesel parts vendors mentioned up thread were even born, both as an engineer working for and within Navistar, and as the founder of the diesel engine performance company that helped define the sport of tractor pulling, and that once set the world records in both time and speed with a diesel dragster... made the decision over 20 years ago to fit the T4 mount to the Super Duty.

The company is called HyperMax Engineering. And while Max, Jerry's son, whom he named the company after because the boy was so "hyper" in the back seat of the car when Jerry and his wife were driving into to town to file articles of incorporation back in 1972, has since passed on, Jerry, the founder, continues on after 46 years in business. By comparison, how long has PIS, GH, etc been around? Maybe 10 years? And where are they now? Hypermax was fitting T4 kits into 7.3L when some of the now popular aftermarket product vendors popularized on forums were still fitting into their diapers.

It's too easy to forget where some of this all started. I'm not affiliated with Hypermax, and I don't have any of their products. But I do have a reasonably stable memory of where some of these tricks began, and it just seemed appropriate at this point to bring up the original T4 implementation on this application... especially in a thread begun and run by Sous, who scorches the earth and leaves no stone unturned in his research on how to mod his towing machine.

stevedrums is starting off with a positive reputation.
Hypermax has a long history with Ford diesels, predating the 7.3 DIT. They made turbo kits for the 6.9 IDI

EDIT: they still do, wow!

Y2KW57, I was not aware of the Hypermax kit, thank you for sharing that information with us and making it available to many others in the future.

Thanks for the compliment and noticing my trail of scorched Earth while researching. I get laser focused on these things at times and completely forget to accomplish other normal tasks. In the end, what made this decision easy for me is that the turbo and plumbing is simply a bolt on kit that leaves the engine internals (injectors, springs, etc) alone. When I realized that, the decision was easy for my wife and I to make.

Really looking forward to getting the T4/SXE kit installed, but I really have to wait a bit until the new to us 5th wheel is done with making it our own. Too many tasks to accomplish does not go well with my sleep schedule, which in turn makes me grumpy to say the least.

Agreed, good post. I should point out, however, that the Hypermax kit uses a T4i flange which is slightly different than T4. To use a T4i kit, you’d have to incorporate an adapter to work with the SXE turbo. Unfortunately I have to spread the reps around.

I spoke to Dusty on the phone yesterday afternoon for about 15 minutes regarding my decision on the T4/SXE.

He only solidified my thoughts on the dramatic differences (as if the FTE fellas hadn't done that enough) in how the 7.3 platform runs when there is a 1:1 pressure ratio and how the SXE series turbo moves air is amazing. He has only installed the Irate kit on the trucks he has worked on and is very interested to see the video I create on installing the CSD T4 kit.

I also told him that I am looking forward to giving his tunes another shot when towing our 5th wheel. I have on file light tow, medium tow and heavy tow tunes from 1023. If they perform better than the GH tunes, I will put the GH tunes on the back shelf and use 1023 from there on out.

More to follow.

From my experience, 1023's tunes work better then GH tunes.
