I've got a 2002 F550 with the 7.3, awesome truck but having a little problem...

We pull a fifth wheel RV about once a week with it, but we went out to eat a few days ago and it was running great. When we got back in the truck after dinner, started it up, and it ran like ****. Very shaky and low RPM idle, lack of power getting up any kind of hill. Ended up making it home very slowly, now its sitting in the driveway, will start but almost instantly bogs down and shuts off. Any idea on whats causing this and how to fix??

I already changed fuel filter, replaced map sensor, and checked resistance on each pin in the UVCH(Under the valve cover harness). All injectors to the common read 2.8-3.5 ohms, all the glow plugs read around .5 ohms.

A neighbor came over with his scanner and it did not pick up any codes but the Service engine light is on now.

Do you have any gauges? If so what's your EGT's like? I'd suspect fuel tank delamination first, other things second. Can you check your fuel flow?

Since the SES light is on there are codes. Get a wireless ob2 dongle and the ForScan app will read the codes on our motor. Not all ob2 code readers will work on ours since they aren't completely ob2 compliant. If you use Android devices get one that uses blue tooth, if you use Apple you'll need a WiFi one

Seriously though, we need that code to do anything other than guess.
If I had to guess, I would say Under Valve Cover Harness.

That includes the 42-pin connector on the driver's side valve cover. That cable is known to chafe...

 

I agree with Mark on the fuel tank delimitation issue if that has not already been addressed. Don't really know what the final answer is for a steel tank.

 

Rving7.3, where you at now? Someone might be close to you to offer a hand or some in person advice.
