Lowered '78 SWB F100 with DJM dream Beams. Too much Camber!

set a level dead center of your wheels. Set a degree wheel on the level. (Protractor) do both sides. The find a cross member that travels from 1 side frame rail to the other side frame rail. Set your protractor dead center of your truck. This will tell you how far off of level your truck is. Subtract this number from one of the degrees you find on one front tire. Then add it to the other side number.
then ask your alignment guy what is the correct degree the tires (caster) should be. Camaro it to what you have.
. Now. If we weren't dealing with a twin i-beam set-up. I'd tell you how many shims to put in to bring it back to within tolerances.
But, we're NOT.....

Yeah sure where are you?

when you say you have "negative Camber". Is the top of your tire leaning in of out? I'm not sure which way is negative?

That's the abridged version. The actual thread name answered your question as to the year of his truck.
He said caster, not camber. Might want to give the ophthalmologist a ring.

75bigblock.
. Is there a problem?
I have a 73 f100. Which when it comes to the front end and Twin I-beams. They are exactly the same. Well. They were until mine got Jaguar ifs.
are you here just looking for an argument. I've probably been building cars before you were born. My first ever build was when I was 13.
I put a 331 Chrysler Hemi in a 1949 Morris minor 1000.
Can you guess what year that was??
And yes, At 13 I built the frame and all the suspension for it.
No u-tube then..... we worked for our knowledge ...

I have lowered my 1978 F100 with the DJM Beams and Shackles... Problem now is too much
positive camber.. I have called 4 alignment shops, including local Ford Dealership since 1964, and
no one can bend the beams to fix the positive camber...I think the springs can be cut to improve this
but does anyone know how much? like 1 coil cut equals -3deg camber etc. The toe has not been set either
I believe setting the toe will have a small effect, but maybe not enough...

I was tolf, there is a small section on these after market beams this section is an area that can be bent.
I'm not a 100% sure of this though. When I installed mine. My tires sat really effect looking. I did not have them in long enough to have it aligned.
I wish you good luck.

l'm in Petaluma. Do you have disc brakes on your truck. I still have my disc attached to them. If you don't need the disc brakes I'll pull them apart.
. Now. What are you will to pay for them? These really are brand new, No miles. I'll need to go through my stuff and find the parts for the steering also. Plus I know I have the wrench that comes with them.
Let me know what you think a fair price is?

Yeah actually I'm gonna hold off until I do a little more research. I thought these were the way to go but they seem to have mixed reviews these days. If I decide to go that route I'll let you know. Thanks.
