4.9l idling very rough,hardly won't accelerate

I have a 93 f150 with the 4.9,was driving on the highway when it started to just slow down,I noticed it was shaking alot, pulled over, opened the hood, sounded like it was misfiring, engine was idling less than 1krpm,and was shaking pretty bad,oil gage dropped to the L mark..i hit the gas a little and it just started shaking more, and didn't really rev as if I wasn't even hitting the pedal,it doesn't die, starts right up,just idles super rough, and is louder than before,I'm not a mechanic by anymeans, but my town mechanic said the oil pump is out,or the distributor,I think it may be my MAP sensor?

i have to wonder why your mechanic thinks there's a problem with the oil pump.
don't start making guesses, that can get expensive and frustrating.
when did this vehicle last have it's spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor and plug leads replaced ?
basic troubleshooting includes pulling codes and checking fuel pressure with a gauge.
you say that you are not mechanical ... but if you are interested in working on your own vehicle we all have to start at the beginning, and youtube, along with this forum are amazing resources.

the mechanic thought That it is probably the oil pump because the oil pressure is very low, but I think that's just due to the way the motor is running, he also said it sounds like the distributor may be broke, the mechanic also said that the motor needs to be pulled to replace the oil pump, and that he doesn't do that kind of work,it's a pretty messed up scenario, but I just don't know why he would recommend me to another mechanic, only to be told $600 for the work of replacing the oil pump

Unless your oreily's is significantly different from mine, they're going to have a hard time finding that OBDII port in your 93 truck, at which point they won't know what to do. You can point them to the EECIV but most won't have any clue what that is, and won't have the tool to connect to it.

But you can pull codes yourself using a jumper at the port. Youtube has thousands of videos on how to do this. Pull your codes and report back. If you're not getting a check engine light, you likely will not have any codes.

Based on your symptoms, I'd start with fuel pressure. Check that and report back.

Don't worry about oil pressure or oil pumps or distributors yet until the basics are taken care of.

Agreed on checking fuel pressure first.
