So I had to cut out my old, stock, catalytic converter due to it being extremely clogged causing it to glow red and nearly burn through my floor boards! And before I did I had ordered a universal magnaflow Cat online (said it fit) and when I got the old one out I realized that the downpipe comes out oval, so I checked my parts truck and it has the other one that comes out with (2) 2” pipes ending with a flange. So the only idea I have is to cut off the flange, then buy an adapter that has (2) 2.5” going in and (1) 2.5” coming out (closest adapter I could find)and then put adapters/unions to switch it from original 2” pipe to 2.5” to fit the adapter then weld it up. Has anyone else jerry rigged this problem to work? I figured SOMEONE else must have wanted to save their $300 from having to buy a “direct fit” and came up with a way to use a universal catalytic converter.
