65 bed sides on newer bed

The old side fits well. As you can imagine I put it on and took it off many times to trim bits and pieces, but all in all not to bad. I have about 4 hours in removing dually bedside and fitting the old side. I will wait to the bed is on the truck before I weld it on so I can make minor adjustments. The only thing that doesn’t line up perfectly is the middle stake pocket. Maybe I can get the other side on one afternoon this week.

You are doing a fine job, better than fine a great job!
To give you some encouragement my project 81 F100 flare side was missing the wood bed floor and all cross beams still had the rusted front & rear sills.
My parts truck also an 81 but a long bed, read metal floor, 1 side was crushed when the truck rolled over on its roof.
A lot of measuring, trimming and on and off I was able to use the metal floor in place of the wood and cross beams.
I used the same home depot straps from the rafters to lift the beds on and off the work stands & truck
Had to move 1 cross beam when I shorten the metal floor
A lot more work was done to get it to this point but it is done and almost ready for paint.

Progress has been slow but steady. Everything lines up well. The most time consuming part was notching/boxing in the bed supports where the bed mounts to the frame. All of them have to be notched. I still have to drill bed and frame for mounting bolts and attach bedsides. I’m going to take the bed off and paint the insides of the bedsides and the frame. Hopefully in another week or so the bed will be mounted.
