Does anyone have any ideas on making my 12 Navigator unlock the doors when shifted into park? the factory programmable options are to unlock when key is pulled out of ignition and drivers door is opened. This is extremely frustrating when the outside temperature here in South Dakota is -20 and I pull in somewhere, LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING, and get out to go get something out of the back and all the doors are still locked. I know, it would be easy to push the unlock button before getting out, but my forgetful brain forbids that from happening 9 times out of 10. My Chevy Silverado unlocks ALL the doors everytime you shift into park. Why can't ALL cars do this. It seems like such a simple thing, but i have yet to find anyone on this planet that can make my Navigator do it. It is obviously something I am going to have to wire in myself, but does anyone have any ideas on the best way to do this? Please only reply with HELPFUL info. Thank you in advance.

 

Ford designed it that way on purpose for safety reasons. Don't want some strange guy whipping open a door and dragging a female driver out of her vehicle the moment she shifts into Park in a dark parking lot, do we?

 

I'm in South Dakota. We don't have "strange guys" here! 😁
