Black Holes(cab corners) My idea to finish them off
Here is my idea for those black holes on our trucks(aka cab corners). You know the area that swallows small animals, shop rags, any thing that will hold moisture to breed rust, etc.
I cut some plate from thin gauge steel I had, bent, drilled, painted, covered in leftover carpet, trimmed with windlace, attached with a couple screws. Now I can put 2 quarts of spare oil on the passenger side that I can snake in and out(just made myself hungry) of that side. Should keep things from falling where you have to remove the fuel tank to retrieve it.
Did this while I had the tank out to install sound deadener.
Also had to fab up a new fuel tank mounting plate to replace the one that rusted to the point the lip was falling off. Cab has no rust issues in that area but those plates like to rust. Only tools used to fab the plate was drill, vise, ball peen hammer, punch/drift. Kind of redneck but turned out ok. Used liquid tape/plastic dip to coat the bracket lip like the rubber on the originals.
Original above, my caveman job below.
