I'm really impressed with the 2018+ 5.0L F-150's. I've been impressed with the 5.0L since they came out, but it's no secrete that the Ecoboost has always had a slight edge over the 5.0L. The 10-Speed +HP/TQ boost has really does wonders for it though. It seems like between the 10-Speed transmission and the 2015 all aluminum diet really made the 5.0L top dog. Considering that it's running neck and neck with current Ecoboost trucks now, I'd almost go as far as to assume Ford has the top V8 truck currently available (a title most recently held by 6.2L GM trucks). But I'm somewhat convinced that a 2018 5.0L F-150 could take a 2018 Silverado 6.2L of comparable configuration.

Im really inpressed with my 2018 502a 5.0 supercrew 4x4 with 3.73 gears. Seems so much more powerful then my 2016 302a 5.0 was. And that truck had a JLT intake and the Omega tune. If the track ever opens this year I will have a good comparison to my old truck and to the stock 10 speed 3.5ís that Iíve raced in the past.

Delta Echo is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I've owned a 6.2L Silverado, and currently own a 5L F150. Neither the 3.5EB nor the 5L can touch the Chevy 6.2 in a drag race (at lower altitudes). The 5L and 3.5 EB were already "neck and neck" in a drag race, prior to the 10-speed (at lower altitudes). But the Chevy has a speed limiter on it, which it will hit in the 1/4 mile. So that needs to be turned off, or the Fords can catch up when it shuts down. The Chevy 6.2 has a genuine 420 horse and 460 lb-ft of torque.

You can’t pick a bad engine in an F150 right now. Even the base 3.3 is a good choice for more people than would admit to it.

The biggest selling point of Ford F-150's is that they offer more models, trim levels and option combinations. If a man can find the right truck in an F-150 he's completely out of luck with a Chevy or RAM.

Lol....Your mind is playing tricks on you or perhaps it`s just the gearing and 10 speed transmission in your current vehicle.

It`s only a 10HP & 13TQ difference compared to a 2016 and more than likely your JLT intake and tune slowed your 2016 down.

I'm impressed with the 5.0 more so that it can make the power it does and yet still pull down 20 mpg highway, without any cylinder deactivation or other gimmicks. A few years back that was unheard of out of a full size V8 truck.

actually they are making a lot more power then what the ratings show. Stock on 87 octane they are now making 345 hp, on 93 octane they are making 370 hp. Tuned they are making 400 hp to the wheels on 93 octane and 430 on e85. They are quite a bit more powerful then the last gen coyote. A 15-17 with a tune and headers would only put down 330 hp with 93 octane. Quite a difference.

and a tune and jlt intake are pretty well the best mods for a naturally aspirated coyote. Especially the omega tune... I donít know where you ar coming from. But you are quite wrong sir.

By no means do I intend to argue but where are you getting these numbers?

The numbers I have quoted are from guys who have posted their dynos on Facebook groups that I am on, 5 star tuning also has some on their website that show the same thing.

Unless you`ve actually made these mods to your vehicle and put it on a chassis dyno, how can you make or claim these statements. All aftermarket companies make claims about their products or a tune and many people just eat it up an believe it and that`s cool to do because it`s their money.

We`re just gonna have to agree to disagree but i`ve driven the 10 speed 5.0 F150 and just like I said in my first reply, the power is not noticeable and it`s all about gearing and it`s not that much different from my 2016 5.0 with 3.55.

Have a great day.

Now put a 10k lb trailer behind both trucks and tell me which one is best. Until the 5.0 has twin turbos added I will stick with my 3.5 ecoboost

Anyone who is towing 10k on a regular basis should be using a 3/4 or 1-ton, not a half-ton. That's near the max rating, not a suggestion for towing on a regular basis.

Have a great day.

many have done those mods on their trucks and dynoed them to confirm the gains. I didnít dyno them but comparing track times at my local 1/4 mile drag strip I was running .6 seconds quicker tune only compared to a similarly equipped truck with the same gear ratio on my 2016. If you donít know what the omega tune is... I canít help you....

dynos on the 2018ís versus the 15-17 have been a fair bit higher. They are a faster truck similarly equipped. People are running much faster times stock and much quicker modded. The 2018 with the better trans and more powerful engine is a game changer. Iím sorry that you didnít feel that in your test drive... but literally everyone else has, from magazines to online reviews to the every day kinda guys. They are much more comparable to the 3.5 ecoboost now then they ever have been. Take a look at some dyno sheets. They are a fair bit under rated. And are making really good hp and much more torque then before.
