is anyone's 2018 5.0 noisey? Mine is and it's getting worse. If you are standing next to it at idle it's noisier than a new diesel. It seems to be coming from the front of the engines and more than a ticking. I said something at the first OC and of course heard " that's normal" I won't accept it next OC. Has 8400 miles on it. . Sounds to me as something in the cam chain area.....If not found I'll get an extended warrentee at 36 months.

Agreed! , and IMO most folks don't know how right you are.
I have over 13k on my 3.3.
Question for anybody not just the person I quoted. If someone could answer or point me to the answer.
Both the 2018 5.0 and the 3.3 have the dual injection, port and direct. Do these engines run on both at all times? Do they run on one and at a certain RPM or load kick in the other?
Reason I ask. While gaining speed such as interstate on ramp, Without increasing throttle, no trans downshift, at about 4000 RPM the speed will start increasing much more rapidly.
WTF is that? Sweet spot in power band maybe? It is like the back barrels of an old 4 barrel kicking in. It is very drastic in speed gain. I admit I don't hit that RPM very often so it is always a surprise. Thanks

ghunt is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.ghunt is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
That might be where the VCT kicks in? Not sure, in my Mustang the VCT comes on around 2500 RPM and you can definitely feel a difference both accelerating and decelerating.

This is patently wrong.

The 3 valve engines were the 5.4 and 4.6 Triton V8's. Those were replaced in 2011 by the 5.0 Coyote. The Coyote has ALWAYS been a 4 valve DOHC engine. It shares very little in common with the prior engines(maybe bore spacing so they could use some of the same tooling).

I'm pretty sure I've seen you in other threads taking a dump on the 5.0 and yet you don't know anything about it. Your posts are also semi-literate.

From what i have read depending on RPM it will use either the intake port injectors or the cylinder injectors but I don't think it ever uses both at the same time. the reason you get the increased pickup is when the 5.0 hits peak torque. unlike the 3.5 eco. it is at a higher rpm. and a narrower band. the 3.5 Turbo has a very long flat torque band starting a a low rpm. I have had both now I really didn't need the 3.5 so I went with the 5.0 for less money. I could have saved even more with the 2.7Eco but I just wanted the V-8 this time. I did oder it with 3.55 gears.

Mine is noisy, I heard it day one, of course I'm a Ford mechanic so I paid it no attention. It is cam noise pretty common in DOHC VCT valvetranes. Some are louder than others. Not to worry over, yes it is normal. You have plenty of warranty left so run the mess out of it! That's what it's built to do.

I think the 2018 might be louder because of the direct injection that was added.

Thanks 4Wheel, I'm just not liking noisey engine. As for dual nozzles there would be no reason to not have them all working all the time. They did it to help eliminate the intake valve contaminants. After a few yrs it would be nice it someone uses a camera to look in the intake at them to see how the combo units are doing. My Ford performance oil separator has oil in it every time I've checked, I feel ill do my part.
