Early 2017 Superduty

Looking at a killer deal on two 2017 F250's. One built 01/22/17, the other built 10/17/17. I could enjoy owning either one. I have read on this site that there were issues with the early 17's. My question, what is considered an "early 17"? I was partial to the older one, but I would like to get opinions from you guys. Your answers could very well make the decision for me. Thanks

As with anything, later production runs incorporate design improvements.
I’d go with the newer of the two, all else being equal.

JeepPuller is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
I believe Job 2 started in March. IMHO go with the October build one.

My truck is an October build if I recall correctly (September if I'm wrong) but it's been great. Go with the newer one. Many documented changes on here between Job 1 and 2 trucks...

Thumbs up

The 10/17 is an 18 model year for sure the 1/17 could still be a 2017. go with the newer as said before updates to the pcm for troubles are picked up quick at the dealerships.

My truck has a build date of 10/13/17 and I took delivery in November of 17. My truck is still a 17. They didn't switch to 18 build untill middle of November 17.

17350 is right, OP is looking at 2 different '17MY trucks. 17350's build is similar to mine, took delivery late October/early November and it's a 17 truck. If we were wrong, his username would be 18350kr....and it ain't!

I was also thinking that. 10/17/17 build is on the same lot with a '18 with 11/22/17 build date, so I guess it is not much unlike an '18. It will be less to register in my state, Maine, probably save upwards of $300 on initial registration. Year to me don't really matter, being new does. I don't trade often, my current F350 I have had 11 years. What does, "before updates to PCM" mean?

My sticker say 11-10-2017 at the bottom. Not sure if that's American date, or world date. October or November? But it's a '17.

A couple simple reasons why I wish my truck was a job 2:

Wouldn’t have the DTE issue (some job 2 trucks had this issue but only those built before April)

Would have the better cup holders. I’m on set #3

would have the usb on the rear of the center console

Also, a newer truck wouldn’t have sat on the lot so long. Mine was built in January 2017. Was a lot princess until I got it in November. I got an amazing deal on it, but there was 230 miles of test driving that may have been abusive. Also there were some issues with water spots and bird poo on the paint that the dealer couldn’t seem to handle. I was able to make it look better than new with a few hours work and my buffer, but something to think about. I also had some oxidation issues on the chrome trim. And some rust on the tow hooks. Oh, and worst of all the new car smell was almost all gone!

Damn... you guys are scaring me. Mine is a 2/2017 production date. I just picked it up in late February (and got it at a really good price, I think). I only have 1900 miles on it. What "issues" are there on the early production 2017's??? I am also wondering about the "better cup holders", and I do have the USB port on the back of the console. My truck only had 32 miles on it when I picked it up....

I know, right?! Take heart, though. My truck has a Mfg date of 10/16. I bought it new in 08/17. Only issue so far is the valve stem/corrosion issue specific to DRW's with higher trims/fancy wheels. Everything else has been solid. A plus to buying one that's been sitting on the lot is that any recalls or TSB's will already be dealt with before you take ownership. We are extremely pleased with our rig!

Same with my truck. I believe it was built during last production week of the 2017's.

My truck was my order and the second one in at my dealer. Built in Aug 2016, delivered Sept 2016. The truck has been very good. No problems. I have no regrets with the early build and it is a beast of a truck.

Mine was built in 2/2017, but says Job Two on the invoice. Apparently a very early Job Two build, based upon what was stated earlier in the thread. The only issue so far is I'm beginning to slowly lose air in the outside left rear tire. Will be talking to the dealer about valve stems soon.
