Remodeling time

Started remodeling the camper last night. Making a loft in the garage for the boys. Full with and between 6'6" and 8' long. Will be hinged in the front so I can lift up the back for loading dirt bikes.

Ended up making it 8' long so I had to only make 1 cut on each sheet of plywood. Did all the cutting and building inside since it was cold and rainy. Only opened the rear door to get the plywood out and turned sideways.I also have 3 posts per side and a block at the rear. I can't use a post at the rear as it would block a vent door from opening.

Securing the front sheet of plywood before sliding the rear sheet into place. Need to borrow a small nailer to secure the paneling after I insulate. Still need to get some paneling to fill in the missing spot on the garage wall and make a wall at the rear of the loft. Not quite sure what I will do for that as it needs to fold down so I can lift up the loft floor to load bikes.

Need to take pictures tonight. Paneling is all up. Back wall is made. Tossed a rug on the loft floor and the mattress and bedding. Gas struts to lift it up from a truck fiberglass topper are installed. I added 2x3 blocking between the 2x3 floor joists to help stiffen the floor up. When I added the wall at the back it also stiffened up the floor.

To do list for tonight:
clean up
add more screws in the loft floor. I ran out
flush water tanks and fill
hookup truck and move onto street to start loading for this weekend

To do after this weekend:
Paint walls in loft
cut rug or get carpeting
trim around the opening

Not the best pictures but you should get the idea.
12" plywood screwed to end of loft floor than 24" piece attached to the 12" piece with hinges.

closed position so no kids fall out.

open position so you can lift it

lifted for loading

should be a little higher. I think the right strut is a dud.

inside looking into the loft. need to paint and carpet.

still a mess. 3 lights in the loft with switches on them. 1 roof vent. I am adding a cover over it so it can be open when raining.

That's pretty darned cool Brandon! Back when we were planning to move up from our old 31' bumper pull TH we looked at lots of 5er THs and the rear lofts were one of our favorite features, your mods give the same functionality without the insanely high profile. Good job!
