700 miles from home, lost fuel pump?
99 2.5. I'm doing a trip from Austin to Nashville when I reach Texarkana and the truck bucks and loses power. I took the first exit and pulled into a gas station. I checked the trans fluid because it would leak at times, all good. Then I pull into a parking space and listen to the pump under the bed. It sounded real shrill and not so happy. Then the truck shook and few good times and died. Unable to be restarted. I'm gonna try to get it to a parts store and run a pressure test before pulling the bed. It's 4 am and I've been driving for work as well since 7 yesterday. Time for a nap then we'll see what's next.

Forgot to update y'all. It was 2:30 am when the truck started bucking and I looked at the GPS with only 20 miles to Texarkana. I debated trying to get it there, but with 50 feet to decide if I wanted to exit, I did and took the nearest gas station, glad I did. I broke down in New Boston Texas, 3 miles from the only parts store for another 20 miles. The truck refused to start until about 7 am when I woke up and tried again. It's started and went half way to town before dying again going uphill. I got out and pulled a mallet from the toolbox and hit the tank a few times and got it to finish the trip.

Pulled in to the store and they had everything. Got the bed off and the pump changed and I was back on the road at 10am. It all went quite well and the truck went great until about 20 miles from Nashville when I lost an injector . Very proud of this truck

Reminds me of the time a few years ago when a ball joint blew out on a Mustang and I replaced it along side the road in 105° heat.

Such a delayed response , sorry. Ive been locked out of this account for a few years. Just got back in today.
For those that may still care to know heres the update on how it went.
I broke down, 10 mins after feeling the truck buck and deciding to leap for the exit before I missed it. I had heard the fuel pump getting noisy when I gassed up in Austin but being on a tight schedule and having to be in Tn ASAP I left anyways. I had a toolbox in the bed so I kept my arsenal with me at all times(as much tools as a broke 21 year old had). Got the truck to the Oreillys in New Boston Texas and luckily they had the part and I had a friend traveling with me. We pulled the bed, and I got to teach him how to change a pump. It fired right up and went all the way to just outside Nashville when it slowed to a top of 30 mph. I had replaced an injector with with a cheap oreilly one and it had failled again. Luckily it was Lifetime warrantied and they had it so a 10 min down time and back on the road. She never missed a beat after that, all the way back to Texas
Good times. Miss that Ranger, ready to buy another
