2013 F350 6.7 Transmission slipping when cold

I have a 2013 f350 with the 6.7, when my truck is cold in the mornings, (trans temp at 10 degrees C) my truck will not engage when shifting, and when it does it will stick in first or jump me into 5th until a make it out of my block, then its fine until its left for a long period of time until it becomes cold again.

Anyone else have this issue? just wondering what the problem might be, i can replace parts all day, but i cant diagnose the problems. any input would be appreciated!

Likely what the industry refers to as "morning sickness". The internal seals (lip seals in the drums) are hard and not sealing correctly. So the pressure leaks and the drum's pressure plates don't apply so it won't shift. Or there is a cross leak that forces it into the wrong gear. Once it warms up a little the seals soften up and begin sealing again.

You need to get something like Torque Pro or ForScan to monitor the transmission. You want to see what the ECU is 'commanding'. That is: is the ECU commanding the shift and its just not shifting? Or is it not commanding the shift.

Just diagnosing from my chair...could be the TCM is having issues. It needs to be hooked up to a scan tool and checked out while it's having issues and then given a proper diagnosis.

There is a new flash out there for the trans, take it in and see if that will fix the issue.
