Progress update still lots more to go! Started on wiring yesterday and wondered about brake light switch wiring anyone's done with a proportioning valve since I have 4 wheel discs and power booster set up now. Also, I have the 2 piece drive shaft and from what I've seen the replacement u-joints are listed as 1310 to 1330 "conversion" u-joints? From what's on the original they look the same length, width and thickness so I don't know what's up. Any ideas?

As I recall, those would be the correct U-joints. In what shape is the center carrier bearing?

I have a 66 F100 2WD with the two part driveshaft. All three of the original u-joints were 1310s when I went through the driveshaft. I recently put in a Tremec five speed and had to switch the front u-joint to the 1310/1330 conversion joint because the new tranny required a wider span at the output.

So my Warranty tag calls for the 3 speed manual and the locking Dana 44. It has neither. It currently has a standard C6 and a post-'59 9 inch rear end. The carrier bearing is half-moon style hanger.

I'll have to tear it apart and do some careful measuring on the joints and caps. For all I know the 2-piece drive shaft is out of another model as well.

IIRC, all 2WD, '65/'66, F100/F250s with an 8' box were equipped with a two-piece driveshaft with a carrier bearing.......whereas, the short box 2WD trucks were equipped with a one-piece (single) driveshaft.

I just finished new bed wood in a 60 f100 SWB today. It has a 2-piece driveshaft. When did ford start the 1-piece in the SWB?

Christmas,
A 1960 F100 is a different animal. It was in the 1957-1960 F100 bundles of FoMoCo Iron.
I believe the one piece driveshaft in the SWB F100s started in 1961.

Here is a 1961-1966 forum thread which discusses a SWB '64 F100. Refer to the #3 post in this thread - posted by Bill, the Number Dummy: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...questions.html

Still some more wiring to do then on to new brake lines. Got some serious motivation after hanging the fenders back on it Sunday. Can't wait to fire this joker up!!

This weekend's festivities. Got messy with the POR15 on the frame again; sprayed the exhaust with VHT High Temp flat black and my son cleaned up the axle so we could actually read some of the casting numbers. I've been researching on 9" pinion supports and can't find if there's anything special needed to go from the standard bearing support, like I have, to the Daytona support. Never thought I'd get to this point with this truck even though it's only been a year invested so far.

NICE work on the POR and exhaust painting!

Why do you feel you need to change to the Daytona pinion support? Are you planning to run slicks and go racing with the truck?

I guess just for the "insurance" of it. This truck is still very new to me and I'm replacing the open diff with a limited slip so I might as well spend a bit extra while I have it pulled apart. I guess my main question would be- is there any difference in pinions for standard to Daytona?

No difference in the pinions but it uses larger bearings. Ford installed it in trucks because it's rated for a heavier load. If you plan to tow anything, get it. It doesn't cost that much more if you're building the 3rd member anyway. I also went for 31 spline axles and a traction loc.

Ahh... I understand.
Are you planning to install an OEM-style traction loc differential or an aftermarket unit?
