Talking H Pipe Exhaust on my 292

I decided to add an H pipe to my exhaust. I have ram horns, 2" exhaust, Smitty mufflers and now an H pipe crossover just behind the transmission. The sound is great and I think much improved. Still very throaty at idle, but the resonating hum that would bother my ears is gone. I am amazed home much smoother the engine runs and at highway speeds, it is much quieter and that makes it easier to have conversations. I am quite pleased.

Glad you like them! Did you end up having a local exhaust & muffler shop bend and set up the pipes?

Great to know. I'm almost to putting exhaust on my 57 and have been contemplating to h pipe or not to h pipe. It just has dual straight pipes on it now.
so you recommend h pipes?
What length Smittys are you running?

I went to a local muffler shop and talked with them, they had no way of making tees. So I had them make me 3, 18" pieces and had them flair both ends on each piece to fit over 2". I cut one in half and used it to make the other two into tee's. It took a little fitting and welding but it was pretty easy, took me less than half an hour. I also had them give me a 36" piece that I could cut for the crossover. They charged me $20.

I forgot to take pictures, maybe I will get a chance soon, pretty busy at work.

Hey man, sorry to bring an old thread back to life. I would like to see your exhaust setup. I am in the same situation, with less experience than you in the welding/cutting game. it would b great if I could just gank your idea lmao. THe guy that i bought the truck from he had the original cross over headers with a straight pipe running out behind the passenger door. Truck is loud on start up and ridiculous on the highway.
