Hello all,
I have an SROD transmission that came out of my '81 Ford Bronco. I had it professionally rebuilt in 2008 (about $1500) and then pulled it out in 2012 when I swapped in an NP-435. It shifts great and is in top notch operating order with only about 10,000 miles on a rebuild. I've tried to sell it locally on craigslist from time to time, but have never had any takers, and am wanting to get it out of my garage.
The only issue with it, which is a common issue with the SROD, is that both transmission mounting bolts have snapped off the tailhousing. If you have a good tailhousing, it could be swapped out.

The transmission is quite light (I can carry it with one arm), so I don't think shipping would be astronomical. Even cross country shipping would be a whole lot less than paying to have yours rebuilt!

PS: I don't know the full range of years that the transmission will fit. This is info I found online for the date ranges it was used. It could fit earlier than a 78, and it might not work with years after '87 due to VSS for the speedometer, etc. Please confirm for yourself.

I've seen many sites list the overdrive ratio as 0.78 and some as 0.71.
The 0.71 is correct, as I've tested and done the math between shift RPMs at numerous speeds.
