2002 F250 5.4. I recently replace the factory seats and seatbelts with an aftermarket set, ok beat me up now. The factory driver seat and both seatbelts have electrical connections coming from them. Being that they are disconnected now, ie: the circuit to arm the airbags isn't complete, I now have an airbag light on the dash. Does anyone know if I can just make a jumper wire to complete the circuit in order to keep the airbag system operable. Maybe someone knows what color wire to jump to what color wire etc.
The airbag light is on presumably because you removed the lap belt pre-tensioners inside the B-pillars. Cant' just jumper them out. You could likely install a resistor of some value to "fool" the self-diagnostic and turn off the light but then you'd have only half of the system that was intended for the truck.
If you're feeling brave (point away from face) measure the resistance of the airbag that came out and that's the value of the resistor that goes in it's place.
Don't go anywhere near the pre-tensioner or an airbag with an ohmmeter. Depending on the meter's internals, there are ones that WILL fire the thing off.
If the airbags are still armed and will function in a collision I'm good, I can live with the light. Just want to make sure they will work even if the system thinks no one is sitting in the seat.
