Edelbrock power package for 506hp/536tq ???
New to forum, but have been lurking here without a registered account for a few years now. Simple question, has anyone ever purchased this kit and what are your opinions on it?

I've got a 1973 F-350 "Super Camper Special" with a stock 460 and C6. To put it simple, I want to make a mean *** street truck, yeah yeah it's not a F100 slammed to the ground with a shiny coat of paint, but I don't care about any of that, I'm working with what I've got and I've got a potential sleeper. I am currently trying to finish my Highboy so the 466 build will have to come later on, but I am trying to gather information and get a good idea of how I am going to approach 500+ horsepower in the future. The plan is to bore the cylinders .030 over and add fenderwell exit headers to a true dual 3" exhaust with Super 10's. Thanks for reading and please give me some feedback guys, in the mean time I'll be reading a lot in the C6 transmission forums.

I mean, really?? Maybe with good long tubes, some real pistons, and a lot of machine work. That combo seems awfully soft for 500hp. You need to probably get the non 95cc chambers, smaller, in order to get enough compression, as well as something for rocker arms, then paya lot of attention to valve train geometry for pushrod selection. Someone might have figures out how to get 500 hp from a 460 with those heads on it, but My experience is that a set of heads and some money/tim spent on port modification and improvement helps these engines more that a set of high flowing heads for street usage.

Edelbrock "Q & A" about this from the Summit site:

Very intrigued by this kit... Can you guys give me an estimated horsepower and compression ratio with this kit on a .030 overbore and stock stroke 466 cid engine with flat top pistons? I plan on running a Holley 770 cfm street avenger.
Asked by WYATT on April 09, 2018A: This power was achieved on a 460 Ford base engine, however the compression ratio is the uncertainty here, Edelbrock made the 506 HP when they had 9.5-10.0:1 compression ratio, how far down is your piston in the hole from the deck, compression is the main horsepower achiever, do some figuring and some calculation, with a Compression Ratio Calculator to be sure you're where you need to be, so you will not be disappointed with the Performance when finished... thank you for your question today..
