For more power from engine.......more air and more fuel. The only effective way is forced induction. The aftermarket does not support high flowing heads or intakes. Then again all that does is improve high rpm hp and not torque too much.
A properly sized turbo or a supercharger will wake this motor up. Ideally rods would be replaced for more than 500 hp and 600 ft lbs.
Most people don't want to spend the $ to wake this motor up. I did and have lots of fun driving a 500ish hp V10. 12 psi boost at 2500 rpm will put a smile on my face every time.
Just be aware that my 8000 lb excursion will react like sports car, but still has brakes that dont.
Well I thank you for the input but with 62k only on the clock for my v-10 it get's things done for me and if I need a speed adjustment I can start with my 68 mustang, then my roush at a meazly 205 hp or shoehorn my ol azz into my 66 tube chassis NHRA legal mustang for a little neck snappin attitude ! If anything I had a 72 Ranger XLT swb 390 c6 truck in high school and always wanted to build a 1 ton shortened wheel base 428 or 460 4 x 4 to play with. Problem is a standard cab is like traveling back in time once you've had a ext cab or crew cab. My black lab ain't giving up his back seat anytime soon ! Peace out !
You mentioned getting power back ? Although mine has had a few mods done. Could you possibly elaborate on what is done and cost to turn these 10 chipmunks into some fire breathing gas eaters ? And also how could I flag this thread on the opening page that it's solved so readers don't have to read a novel to see what fixed mine ? Lol thanks again......Rich
Check out the guys at 5Star Tuning. They have different levels of tunes that adjust things like spark advance and transmission shift pressures. I mostly run the 87 economy tune which gives the transmission a very smooth and predictable feel. The performance tune shifts so hard at WOT that I'm afraid of snapping U-joints.
