Hey guys my 6.9 doesn’t seem to be getting full power to glow plugs. I recently had one break off on me and get metal in cylinder and had to take head off to clean out. Now the relay seems to start clicking right away and clicks really fast. I have all new glow plugs and have checked them all for power. Any ideas?
Thanks-TJ
Could be the controller, and I would make sure you are getting full power through the relay (using the 20v range put a voltmeter across the in and out terminals of the relay while plugs are cycling). Should be a very low reading, although it may be hard to get an accurate reading unless they stay on long enough for the meter to stabilize.
I replaced my controller twice before switching to a push button, no issues since.
If it's not a Beru,it will not do.
It sure beats pulling the heads and you know it too.
If you use an off brand plug,it would surely be a shame.
However, you will only have yourself to blame.
If it didn't come packaged by Motorcraft, your engine will make a boat anchor for your raft.
If your wise, you'll know it's to be made in Germany and accept a socket,3/8 in size.
If it takes a 10 millimeter instead, you will wish that the previous owner of your truck was dead.
Depending on the year,install a ZD1A or a ZD9 and you'll rest easy,knowing everything will be fine.
Heed the advice by the wise,or it could lead to your engines demise.
For if it's not a Beru,it will not do.
