Front fuel tank issue, 1984 E-350
Hello all,
I recently bought a 1984 E-350 Ambulance (dually with wider style body) converted to 4x4 with a 460 V8 (carbuerated) and C6 transmission. The van is actually in good shape and runs well for its age. The only major issue i'm having with it is the front fuel tank doesn't work at all. When switched to front tank gauge reads empty (tank is full), and I don't hear any electric fuel pump running (The rear tank has an electric fuel pump that you can hear when key is on). This van doesn't appear to have a mechanical fuel pump up near the carb. Fuel tanks and wiring/switch valve appear to be factory Ford parts. Information and manuals for this van have been nearly impossible to find. Based on what I've read I think it could be any of the following:
Fuel tank switch/switch valve- I've heard these can be problematic but the rear tank/gauge works fine
Front fuel pump relay - I would like to check this but can't find it anywhere, it's not near fuse panel where the usually are.
Front fuel tank pump- seems likely but the gauge also doesn't work (gauge reads empty I verified that tank is full). Are the sending unit and the pump one unit?
I'm not new to Ford trucks but I am new to the dual tank systems. Looking for any ideas on how to narrow down the cause of this issue, I don't want to remove the fuel tank unless necessary.
Thanks in advance

Here is what you need for Manuals. If you are planning on keeping the ambulance you should invest in them.
FORD 1984 Bronco, Econoline E150-E350 & F150-F350 Pick Up Truck Shop Manual CD
https://www.ebay.com/itm/FORD-1984-B...4383.l4275.c10
1984 FORD ECONOLINE ELECTRICAL / WIRING / VACUUM TROUBLESHOOTING MANUAL EVTM vg
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-FORD-E...wAAOSwZ1lWeqE3
This one is less important until you need it and don't have it. All 3 are ford factory manuals and work hand in hand
1984 Ford Econoline Van Wiring Diagrams
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-Ford-E...1aVmsA&vxp=mtr
This one I am not sure if you need it at all but then you would have pretty much a complete set of books.
1984 Ford Econoline Van and club wagon Owners Manual
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-Ford-E...VaWk5z&vxp=mtr
To see if there is any ambulance info out there you would need to find out what body and who built it.
The service manual will give you allot of info but most often the EVTM has more detailed diagrams.
Here is an example from my 1985 manual for a van with duel tanks and a 460. I am not sure if they are the same or not. There are a few more pages that go with this along with many other aspects covered in other sections of the manual in different sections like the fuel tank, fuel lines, carb, ect.
