Angry Well, I WAS about to order 19’ F350 XL STX

.....originally dealer quoted 2018, $2500 in rebates ending 4-2-18 on financing a F350 XL STX. Stated “we’ll honor whichever rebates are best, the day you order or on delivery date. But NOW , they quoted me a 2019, said that rebates will only apply upon delivery, because there are no 2019 incentives yet. This truck would prob be delivered late August, since 19’ SD’s start production mid June. Is this dealer BSing me?
This would be my first time Ford purchase. Now having second thoughts. Am I wasting my time ordering a 19 with NO incentives? Please advise! I am sold on a SD, always been a Chevy loyalist, now this is beginning to taste bad.
What would you do?

My understanding is incentives are tied to model year so the dealer couldn't honor the 2018 rebates to a 2019.

You wouldn’t go into a clothes store and start demanding last seasons sale prices apply to the new stuff.

True, but when rebates on a 2018 are good until April 2, yet you’re told, wait, the order bank is closed, gotta order 19’, certainly you’d understand some level of frustration.

No stress, rebates were nothing impressive on the '18's, '19's will hit the lot with rebates, pretty hard for Ford to offer a rebate on something that doesn't even exist yet...

No, not frustrating at all to me.

The current rebates are on the 2018 model year, not the 2019. Has nothing to do with order banks being open or not. The rebates on the '18 are to help move what they have on the lot.

So have them dealer search an 18. Definitely dont understand your frustration. You are complaining that 19s can be ordered but you cant lock in the 18 rebates on a 19 truck. Sorry, makes no sense.

So that means when the 19 arrives, it will have better rebates then the 19s have now.

It sucks. I am a get in now guy so maybe do a dealer search and get it, or wait and hope they have a rebate. Dealer should have told you you couldn’t order anymore, or need to order by this date.

I spoke to a few of my local dealers. They mentioned that the last day to place an order for a 2018 model was April 18, 2018. Be aware also that they have already boosted the pricing for the 2019 models into their system. The reason I know this is that I received two separate quotes from different dealers (only two days apart). The most significant cost bump was for the diesel option and the delivery and destination costs. The diesel price goes from $8995 to $9120, and the delivery cost goes from $1295 to $1495. I'm going to order my truck today, an F350 XLT Crew Cab with the diesel option. The dealer said they would honor the quote they gave to me earlier. So we'll see if they do.

Indeed I have. I should have placed the order last week while the pricing was still good. The dealer did suggest that it was possible that there would be new rebates to clear out the 2018 inventory and make room for the new 2019 models. We'll see if that happens. Either way if I can get some better rebates I may be able to have a lower cost F350. The dealer said I could stick the one's that are available today or use the future rebates. It kind of ticks me off that I can't seem to get the color I want, which is Magma Red. For some reason Ford won't allow that color option to be selected. I did place my order to have the Blue Jeans color, but impressed upon them that the Magma Red is my primary color choice. They'll let me know if they can get the Ford reps to remove this restriction.

are you saying your dealer is ordering an 18 or 19? If you are saying an 18, sorry, they cant. Banks closed over 3 weeks ago and 19 orders have been placed since then. Cant order 2 different MY vehicles at the same time.

In my original post I mentioned that that the final date to order a 2018 model is April 18, 2018. I received this information from a Ford dealer. So I'm assuming that is still true. I did double check the order sheet they gave to me and it does state it's a 2018 model they are ordering.
