I'm in the market for a 2018 F150 Larait Fx4 SuperCrew with the 3.5 EB, so I was looking for any issues and open for suggestion on the engines based on your experiences. Drove trucks with both engines, the 5.0 seemed to have a different drive and handling than the 3.5, the 3.5 did react immediately to throttle that was impressive, I know with EB you can't have both at the same time (either fast or economy) I watched a You Tube of both trucks racing, both seemed equal in that regard. All reviews by known Reviewers are positive about all the engines. My priority is not looking for gas mileage (its a truck) as much as not being under power, not really going to two a trailer, but maybe a utility trailer, just like to have throttle when I need it, but either way I'm getting the tow pkg, the truck"s use plan is an everyday vehicle as well as the traveler, I know the diesel is coming, the MPG are to be near or above 26, but not towing and diesel prices are .50 about gas here in California....

The EcoBoost F-150 is built Ford tough, is very well put together, and fairly low maintenance. The only real issue with the EcoBoost F-150 is with the direct injection in the engine. Direct fuel injection can cause excess carbon to build up on the valves which can harm engine performance.

Although it is not a widespread problem, Ford has revised the design of their 2.7L and 3.5L EcoBoost engine for 2018 going forward to include a high pressure direct, low pressure port hybrid fuel injection system. This hybrid fuel injection system is designed to keep the valves clean and not allow excess carbon to build up.

Thats all I got, times ticking for me as you can imagine, ordering time frame for a 2018 is closely coming to a end

That's almost right. The 3.5 GenII, for 2017 came with the direct/port injection. That may be correct for the 2.7, not sure
After having both a tuned 5.0, and now, a tuned 3.5, if I was buying another tomorrow, it would be a coin toss.

I read earlier today, that the '18 2.7, is setup like the '17 3.5, with both direct and port injection.

If I didn't plan to tow, I'd go 2.7l. its stout and gets good economy. If I planned to tow, I'd go 3.5l. I'd take the Eco any day over a N/A engine fo it's road manners.
