The Dome light that won't go out!
Alright boys n girls. It's an 05 150 super crew and that damn dome light comes on while driving or parked and stays on. Comes on when the vehicle is shut off n parked and conveniently leaves you with a low or dead battery. So it's not the pin switches. It's this plug on the top left of the instrument cluster. It's about a 32 pin sucker and if the dome light comes on, just wiggle this plug. It conveniently makes the e-brake light go out too.. ( when not using ebrake). So now I've found the problem I've tried electronic cleaner, bending the pins a lil, and using a cardboard wedge to keep the plug connected.... but nothing seems to last more than a few miles before we have to wiggle that damn plug. So I'm out of haywire options and ways to actually fix it. If I change instrument clusters, will it solve the problem or is it in the other side of the plug. Will the odometer readjust to proper mileage? Can a person maybe fix the solder on the cluster if that's a common problem? I'm ready to slam my hand in the door on this thing. Your comments or thoughts be appreciated although some good advise on how to fix this would be fabulous and most appreciated.

on the older F150s ( 2000- 2001) there was a cold solder joint on the back of the circuit board that made the odometer go blank... so that is possible... You have to do a VERY CLOSE inspection to see a cold joint.. If you knew the pin that was making the problem, that would help narrow down the inspection.. Use a REALLY SMALL solder iron to redo the joint.

this is not your problem, but shows a possible "area" of concern..

Your on it Steve! It's in the plug on the left side of the circuit board (facing forwards) it's about a 32 pin plug. I've pulled the dash cluster but can't see that break or crack. Went to local forad to ask what color of wire, hence what pin to look for.... met with a blank stare.... and we don't fix that, we just replace the cluster!
So I'm still wiggling the plug to turn out the lights..... till I can get a really service tech to narrow down the search
