Tonight I wanted to replace the worn out plastic thing where the steerings shaft goes through the cab. I will put in a bearing instead. The plan was to remove the two bolts on the rag joint, and slide the lower steering shaft back and then remove it. Of course I took out the bolt right over the joint where the lower steering shaft is connected to the upper one. But I could not slide the lower shaft enough to get it out. Do I have to remove the steering gear? Or do I just have to use some more force on it?
If I remember right you can have the entire column out in about 10 minutes. Bolt at rag joint,8-10 inside cab, couple elec connectors and that baby is outa there.........way easier!

You were right! Just a few minutes to take the entire column out. One elctrical connector. 4 bolts at the firewall. Two bolts holding the column under the steering wheel. Disconnect the rag and the connection to the gear selector. Thanks!
