How to read "codes" on '96 F150??
The check engine light is on in a '96 F150 (302 engine) I recently purchased and the truck runs quite rough at idle. It seems to smooth out under acceleration. This truck was a flood vehicle, so something was probably damaged by water. I'm familiar with Fords EEC-IV from my 5.0 Mustangs....does this truck also have a plug-in in the engine compartment where I can plug my little EEC-IV code scanner and get the trouble codes? Or do I need an OBD-II scanner? I've given the truck a basic tune-up: new plugs, cap/rotor, I cleaned out the idle control sensor with carb cleaner. I've searched all in the engine compartment but cannot find a plug similar to whats in the engine compartment of my 5.0 Mustang where I can plug in the code scanner. Please help! Thanks!

If it is the same on my 93 brocno(should be), there are 2 little plugs in the right corner by the firewall if you are looking into the engine compartment. one is bigger, has like 3,4 or 5 wires, and the other plug just has one wire. I have one of those little scanners I picked up for 30 bucks, and it works just fine.
