51 F5 value?

Someone asked about my truck and I didn't know what it might be worth. Has a SBC? Lengthened frame but everything else seems to be original. I drove it home some 25 years ago and went through the brakes. It has sat since then. Not sure of the interest or value this truck has. Is it worth making the thing road worthy or just sell as is. Your opinions would be much appreciated By the way the 35 mile ride home seemed like it took all day.

Mike, If you post more pictures of your F-5 you may get more opinions. An F-5 is a big truck which limits how many people would want it. Perhaps someone wants it for the body. I like pictures. Patrick OOps, somehow I missed the pictures.

I browse CL pretty frequently and see F4/5/6's. For what I'm seeing in your pictures and description I'd peg that around $1000-$1500 max.

Thanks. It does have the two long horns mounted under the hood. I think that is part of the 5 Star package. That could make it 1500?

If you can get 1500 for it then I'd say you did well. I paid 1k for zero rust, original glass, all original drivetrain F4..with delivery included.

Mike, unfortunately your F5 has plenty of rust, a non-original engine, and widow-maker wheels. It is in Ohio, not LA and isn't going to command anywhere near $1500 even though it appears to be a 5 Star cab. In my opinion, you'll be best to just sell it. A finished F5 typically sells for less than the cost to fully restore it. It isn't right but it is reality. Sorry.

Thanks. That's what I was asking. The truck doesn't owe me much so I won't be too sad. I knew the guys here would have the knowledge to steer me in the fight direction. I might fire those 2 24 inch horns up before it goes just for fun.

I can't claim to be an expert, but I do pay attention on occasion. If they were mine, I would mount those proud horns on my daily driver. They have a commanding voice. Best of luck with your decision.

It's worth more apart. Windshield trim alone can bring $300 and up

In LA prices that would be 3-4K+. Everything old around here has a 2-5X markup. I browse the eastern WA, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana CL and I'd still stick with my estimate of something like this being listed around 1000-1500.

But yes..will cost more to restore than worth. I'm estimating around 8K for my F4 restoration and I think I'd be lucky to see that out of it.
