Shelf Fail..:( - Now Fender Replacement- Body Repair Question

Hi folks - I have a question for the more experienced body repair people on this forum. I have had great luck in reviewing what people have done and experimented with on this forum for my truck.

Here's what happened. I got back from a business trip last week, truck was parked in the garage due to it getting into hail season in North Texas. Well go to find that a shelf has given way and dropped my tile wet saw on the fender. Luckily it only hit the fender and put a gouge in the F250 badge. So I went to my local Ford body shop for a quote. $1670 including blending the color into the door, which requires removal of the 6.7L P/S as well. My wife took to a small body shop in Denton that does great work and they want $980 for fender only and $1200 for fender and door but recommended blending the door.

Both quote to remove the headlamp and bumper as part of the repair. Color is Bronze Fire, Monotone.

Here's my question, I have $100 deductible for the repair for Comp so that's not an issue. The bigger question is do they really need to remove the headlamp and bumper as well and even more so, blend it into the door. My biggest concern is them screwing up the door paint as well because the fender is a panel they can fix on a rack and not have to paint the rest of the truck.

Thoughts??

If they are going to repaint the fender(which I assume they are)removing the headlights is the proper way to do it so you could hide the blend line behind the light. Removing the bumper is probably just to give them more room to work.

Hey there. Actually both shops said it needed to be replaced. It was bent at the top and they said because of the aluminum it tends to crack if they try and pull it. So new fender.....
