White smoke, no power

I just replaced batteries, alternator, and rebuilt FICM from FICMRepair.com as outlined in this thread. The truck was running fine before, but I had low voltage numbers so I did this as a preventative measure. Yesterday was the first time I drove it since the replacements and it ran fine except for a couple of stumbles as noted in the previous thread. This morning I had an intermittent problem with no power and white smoke. I was on the highway running about 75 and the truck would drop down to idle. When I gave it more pedal, it would just blow white smoke. If I let off the accelerator, it would idle fine, but would not accelerate. Then it would clear up and run fine for a while, then would start acting up again. I basically limped in to work. I didn't have time to check for codes, but will do that at lunch time.

Any thoughts?

HI Norton, this video may shed a little light on the problem.

Good luck

Good video. SO FAR, mine doesn't die when put in gear. It hasn't died at all on me yet. It drove fine coming home from work. But with the P0404 code and the white smoke, it sure looks like what he has there. I'll have to check the EGR valve this weekend.

Sorry it took so long to answer. I had typed the above hours ago and never hit the Post button. I use TorquePro -- does it not show all the codes that the Ford specific tool does?
