How to fasten exhaust?
Got the 6 cyl
'55 semi driveable. The exhaust is in really bad shape, and is chocking us out! I am buying a glasspack for it, and probably some flex pipe in addition to straight 2" pipe. The pipe and muffler that is on there now is tie wired. I do not know how it mounts from the factory, or which hangars to buy and what type to get? In the first picture, is that double headed bolt looking thing an exhaust hanger hanging from passenger side frame? The mount coming off of the block is there and functioning. It is from the cab back where I am lost. How did you do it?

The double headed bolt thing is part of the under the bed tire carrier.
All the 53-56 F-100 had single exhausts due to the Y Block (V-8) using a cross over exhaust manifold.
Rear tail pipe mount
Factory exhaust mount location
There should be a factory exhaust hanger coming from the frame over to the exhaust pipe very near the rear Running board bracket. I had a muffler shop install a rear hanger.
Just for info I have dual exhausts and the pictures are from the left side but the right side mirrors the left. My mufflers are Smithy’s ( made by Patriot now).
Come on over to Pere Marquette State park 27 & 28 April. The get together is called Flatlanders Truckfes.t
