I just picked up a really nice used 2011 king ranch. Its a beautiful one owner texas truck that has been meticulously dealer maintained. There are a few minor issues i have noticed since getting the truck home and going over it. the biggest and most annoying is that the power scope steering adjustment doesn't work. it just makes a terrible loud noise. Is this a common issue? what might be the problem?

 

Unfortunately I don't think this is a cheap fix.

I can't find much information on it, but it appears that the mechanism is inside the column, which is sold as a complete unit. Tousley Ford sells this column for $675, and of course the one without the power tilt is $175. I think you'll have to replace the column to get this working again.
