1979 460 (D9TE) upgrade help wanted
#16
Are you looking at the oil pressure gauge on the dash, or are you actually measuring oil pressure ? Because through all my internet searching I believe the dash gauge isn't the most accurate. I mean even my truck at full warm up and idle sometimes it will hover 1/16" above the "L" bottom line on the line curve, but then it will go back up on its own later on too even when idling, it seems a bit "random" sometimes. I think the engine can go down to only 7-9PSI oil pressure and still be fine too (in the wiring diagrams there is an oil pressure idiot light that triggers at 7PSI or so, but I can't seem to find that light in my dash yet). This is all information I've gathered from reading everything I can about the 460 engine over the last few weeks. I don't know if it's 100% accurate though.
