EFI 429 Plenum on an EFI 460
I have just acquired an EFI 429 plenum off an industrial 429. It looks almost identical to the EFI 460 plenum. The only difference I can see is that the 429 plenum is wide open until the very bottom where it has a very thin rib (5/8 inch tall) to match the intake as where the 460 plenum is divided in half from top to bottom down the where it meets the intake. Has anybody on here ever swapped the 429 plenum to the 460 ? I am just curious what the outcome might have been. Thanks.

As you can see in the photos, the 429 plenum is a fresh take off and has not been cleaned up yet. If you notice in one of the pics the 429 plenum even says 7.0L on the passenger side.
You might also notice on the 460 plenum I at one time was working on putting a "knife edge" on the bottom on the plenum. I have a custom 3 inch plenum spacer on my truck which has no bar in the middle. I also have another intake manifold that I cut the rib out at an attempt to make a single plane intake.

Well, I was picturing the intake itself. I forgot the "S" plenum the 460s have connecting the throttle body to intake. I don't know how much of an affect that will have, but I would assume the effect would be similar to an open carb spacer. Allowing both sides of the throttle body to feed the entire engine.

Ford put the 429 in their medium duty trucks in the 80s and 90s. Called it the 7.0 liter. Carbed and EFI applications. It was part of the 385 engine series along with the 460 and 370. I think it died out sometime in the 90s.

yup they were the ONLY gas engine from 88+ available. 460 was never offered on anything larger than a F-superduty
