Trash Blows Through Defrost
F 150 1994 4x4 4.9 5 speed no a/c
The truck was mostly parked - occasional use on the farm - for the last year or so. WHen I started driving it regularly recently it would blow dust and debris out of the defrost. I blew air into the defrost and cleaned it out pretty well. Last weekend I pruned an apple tree with the truck under the tree to catch limbs. After that I turned on the defrost and lots of apple tree debris out of the defrost. I.m guessing it goes through the cowl and into the cabin air intake. Where does the air come in and is there any kind of filter? Has anyone had this problem?
Thanks

X2, definitely worth checking if the truck has sat for any length of time. Hantavirus is nasty stuff. Use Lysol.

Mice can make a mess, but he's pretty specific about apple tree pruning debris here. Pretty fresh too.
The debris must be making it past the cowl screen. I know the bullnose trucks commonly change out the cowl cover for the bricknose cover because the early trucks had large slits that let in debris where the perforated screen of the later trucks let a whole lot less debris through. Your 94 is different than both the earlier versions, but has perforations similar to the bricknose cowl. I would have to guess that somehow, the debris slips past the cowl at the windshield edge. for some reason, I can't envision exactly how this is sealed and it's too far out in the deep snow for me to go and check one, but I think it would be worthwhile to remove the cowl panel and inspect any seals.
