4.30s with larger tires MPG

Any one here running 4.30 gears with 35's or 37's tires and either level or a 4 inch lift?
Curious as to your fuel mileage city/highway.
Of course pics would be great too.

Thanks

.

I'd also like to know if anyone who has this setup as mentioned in the first comment hauls or tows with it and how the truck does

Homerunking.. guess nobody's done this yet. Either that or they don't want to scare us off.

Another question..4.30s are suppose to get worse MPG, but better for off the line and towing. if i put larger tires on then i knock my self down to the 3.73 range right.
So can I expect to get worse gas mileage than a 3.73 with larger tires?

You're correct in that a taller tire will affect your final drive gearing as you describe...just how much depends on the circumference of the tire you chose. There are online gear ratio calculators that will calc that for you.
You also need to realize that larger tires will likely be heavier too, requiring more power to turn. Also, tread design plays a big part in how much rolling resistance a tire has...and that can have a major impact on mpg.

Running 35x12.50x20 Yoko G015's, my 2017 4.30 gets 10 percent better fuel economy than my previous 2016 3.73 running 285/70/17 General AT2. I'm even doing a little better now with my 295/70/18 Michelin Defender LTX. It is just a thought that 4.30 gets worse mpg in the 6.2, especially on an average. Lower gears like a 4.30 will net better towing and town driving mpgs. Going with a larger, heavier tire, the 4.30 will be less adversely affected by the tire change. 3.73 will probably offer 1 or so mpg gain on the hwy at 65+ mph running unloaded. There has been no situation where my last 6.2 has netted better mpg than my new.
Towing my 7500 lbs toyhauler gets me 8-9. My last truck was 7-8. The better part is now I stay in 3rd gear vs using 2nd in the 2016.

I'm thinking of going to either a 285 or a 295/70-18 when I replace the stock GY's. I really like the way the truck pulls with the 275's but I'd also like a little more tire and clearance. If I recall correctly going to a 295 will net about a 3.90 +/- gear. My trailer is 10K and I get 8-9 mpg towing it so I'm a little worried I might not be happy if I increase tire dia too much. So far I can hold 3rd gear while pulling the grades around here and easily do 60mph+. I actually have to watch my speed because I'll find myself going 70mph if I keep my foot in it... haha

Not exactly what the OP asked for, but with my 4.88's and 37x12.50s that weight 83lbs a piece, I average 10-11 daily around town and 13 on the interstate. 2016 ccsb. Stock setup was 3.73 w/245/75r17 and I averaged 12.5-13 on same daily trip and about 15 on the interstate. Gears are definitely your friend with these heavy trucks and big tires.

4.30 can be had with factory tires that are 34.1” (very close to the OP’s 35”) so I would think it tows well and yields decent fuel mileage. If it tanked either towing or MPG performance in a big way it wouldn’t be offered. Mine’s equipped this way and it’s arriving soon, so hopefully I assumed right .

I think that will be a fantastic combo, and should be the standard gear with that wheel and tire package.

I'm running a 35/12.50R18 right now with my factory 4.30's. I have seen a bit of a drop in fuel economy overall. City driving I am averaging right about 10 to 10.4. Highway driving I can get around 15. I am also running Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

I'm running factory 4.30s with 37 12.5 20 terra grapplers on my 17 250 and it's a pretty good combo! 70mph puts me right at 2000 rpms and I think 14mpgs is the best ive seen on the hwy but a couple hrs on the road and im normally bumping it up around 75-78mph around town 11.5-12.5 depending on how much idling it does. All hand calc'd and verified speed with a couple GPS
