Went to the body shop today. He is making progress. The doors are patched and ready for paint. Same with the hood. He got the dents out of the roof. He found a little rust in the left rear cab corner that he patched. There was a small rust hole in the gravel pan that he cut out and will put new metal in.
I took off the dorky clearance light strip and am putting 5 lights on the roof. We put the lights in position and marked the screw holes so he can drill the holes before he paints. The 3 in the middle are 7" apart with the end ones 13" from them.

Two nights ago I thinned the red paint with water hoping that it would flow and level better. It didn't. Tonight I scraped any paint off that got on the sides of the raised areas. Here are both emblems. The first one I painted is the top one. The one with thinned paint is the bottom one. They aren't perfect but I think they will look fine... at least to a blind man on a gallopping horse on a dark night!

I picked up the vent windows from Safelight on Monday. I cleaned up the rusty spots and primered them before I took them. So I taped them up last night and painted them today. Tonight I took the tape off.
I also finished my division bars. What a pain! More on that later. Here is one of them. I bought the division bar stock with the fuzzies and stainless bead on it from Restoration Specialties. I took the wire brush to the black part that shows in the door from my old bars, then primered them and painted them gloss black. I had to attach the vent window rubber to that with little brass rivets Midfifty supplied. Then had to attach the whole thing to the division bar with rivets. I had to drill holes for all this and for the two brackets which I took off the old division bars. All this with out scratching the fresh paint.

Hey Abe,
I'm looking at doing the same thing to our F1 vent windows. I was hoping to do it without
taking them off.....That doesn't look like much fun. What kind/color of paint & primer did you
end up using?
Your vent windows came out looking very nice. I like the tinted glass. I've replaced a tie rod & got our truck legally
licensed with Antique plates...so I haven't been totally lazy this winter...
