y2k Ranger Y pipe problem

I have a y2k Ranger xlt extended cab 4x4 that I had the exhaust system replaced from the Y pipe back about 6 months ago, when the shop was inspecting the finished job they noticed a hole in the Y pipe right where the two manifold pipes came together, they tried the Ford dealer plus a few parts stores and were told that Ford made the Y pipe obsolete, they tried one from Ebay but that was a no go so they sent the pipe out to a welding shop and had it welded heavy duty.

The pipe is still holding up but my worry is what happens when this repair fails, do I have to take it to a muffler shop and have one made up? I don't want to get rid of the truck over what seems would be an easy repair because I can't get the parts.
