B&O just as bad as Sony

Have both a 2018 F350 and wife's 2018 F150. Not pleased with the B&O. Real bummer.

Had an Audiophile in the 08s. That was the only year for good sound in the Super Duties.

I test drove a 2018 Lariat and thought the stereo was just fine. No complaints. Iím trying to figure out why so many people are complaining about the Sony stereo. I donít play my music loud, so is it people that want to blast their stereos that are complaining due to distortion..... My truck is being built on Monday so the wait is almost over. 😀😀

The Sony-System is fine. Think some folks just look for an excuse to look like they know something and have the need to spend money to fix a non-existing issue. And of course they Purchase and Install the Correct sounding system the FIRST time without ever having heard it in their vehicle ever. And, it miraculously corrects the non-existing issue because it, well, just sounds different. My Opinion.

The Sony system is not fine in any way to my ears. It's sub-par at best. The previous generation Sony system was even better than the 17+. I don't blast my music either. I just like good sound. For those that don't appreciate good wine, drink Corbett Canyon and more power to you. (Or if you're a beer guy, get a thirty of Bud...) Same goes for audio equipment. It's much easier and cheaper to not have your palate or ears developed enough to appreciate better quality and I'm envious of those who can't tell the difference. Then again, I did a budget install and am completely pleased with what under 1k got me. Others would find my trucks sound unacceptable and I get that. Everyone's needs are different but I won't say that someone who likes things more finely tuned than I do is foolish or just looking to blow money. I know I'd rather still have that 1k in my wallet but the improvement was worth it to me. YMMV.

Brandon, that's going to be a letdown for many who waited for the B&O's release in the SD line. Just like anything else, it can be fixed though. I haven't heard it myself yet...

Imo a good stereo will sound great at lower volumes.

There's nothing better than Journey at moderate volume on a good stereo.

The B&O just has no depth.

I have no complaints regarding the Sony sound system. But then, I might be a mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging heathen, so that might explain it.

No one said anything of the sort Gerry. I can't appreciate a fine cigar but that doesn't make me simple. Everyone has their own thing that they are into that they can appreciate more than most others. That doesn't make anyone better than anyone else. Just different.

none of these systems are going to be as good as one you could put together for $1000 yourself. I just wish stock headunits would have RCA outs. That would make life so much easier.

Billy, if you look at the stock stereo upgrade thread, there is a way with Forscan to change the speaker level outputs to line level to eliminate the need and loss of a LOC. You can also shut off the center channel speaker. Then a simple speaker wire to RCA adapter can come off the speaker leads to feed an aftermarket amp. Not as simple as having the RCA's already there but not difficult either.

True Story..... A good friend of mine of over 40 years is a Sound Engineer. Over the years he has Engineered the sound for many Nationally Known bands and produced their CD;s. That being said, I have learned a lot about Equipment and how it's used etc. He had a small "GiG" to do at a small Music Hall in South Texas. The person who hired the entertainment wanted my friend to use his Bose 901's (Remember them?) Anyway, during the GiG/Show, the person who hired my friend to engineer the sound came over and commented on how wonderful the sound was because of his 901's and was pretty much tickled Pink.... My bud picked up one of his 901's and handed it to him with no wires attached as they were not being utilized. End Of Story.

A good sound is when you can hear the fingers of the guitarist slide up and down the strings, the Drummer picking up the sticks off the snare, or the vocalist inhaling or exhaling. That is clarity. Boom, Boom, Boom of the Bass is the measure most tone deaf folks use to measure a personal choice as defined as their measure of quality. "If" you change out the Sony to something else, one would hope you change out the speakers also. The most expensive speakers are not necessarily the best. It's pretty much how you match and utilize the installed equipment to get the best performance out of it.

Of course and I don't think anyone has mentioned the sub here or needing more bass. The first thing I did to mine was install Focal components and tweak the settings for clarity. The sub came second and is very small due to size constraints if you want to retain the OE under rear seat storage. It was just enough to add the richness I like at low-mid volume but certainly can't be heard by the neighbors... even at max volume.
